Here’s a little thing I adapted from the script of The Matrix. It was uncannily easy…
Do you believe in fate, Neo?
Because I don’t like the idea that
I’m not in control of my life.
I know exactly what you mean.
Again, that smile that could cut glass.
Let me tell you why you are here.
You are here because you have the
I’ve watched you, Neo. You do not
Use critical theory like a tool.
You use it like it was part of
yourself. What you can do with
critical theory is not normal.
I know. I’ve seen it.
What you do is magic.
It’s not magic.
But it is, Neo. It is. How else
would you describe what has been
happening to you?
He leans forward.
We are trained in this world to
accept only what is ‘rational’ and
‘logical’. That there are men, and there
are women, and that they each have their
separate roles and responsibilities.
Have you ever wondered why?
Neo shakes his head.
As children, we do not separate
the socially constructed from the unconstructed
which is why the younger a mind is
the easier it is to free while a
mind like yours can be very
Free from what?
From the Heteronormative Matrix.
Neo looks at his eyes but only sees a reflection of himself.
Do you want to know what it is,
Neo swallows and nods his head.
It’s that feeling you have had all
your life. That feeling that
something was wrong with the
world. You don’t know what it is
but it’s there, like a splinter in
your mind, driving you mad,
driving you to me. But what is
The LEATHER CREAKS as he leans back.
The Heteronormative Matrix is everywhere,
it’s all around us, here even in this
room. You can see it out your window,
or on your television. You feel it
when you go to work, or go to
church or pay your taxes. It is
the world that has been pulled
over your eyes to blind you from
That you are a slave, Neo. That
you, like everyone else, was born
… kept inside a prison that you
cannot smell, taste, or touch. A
prison for your mind.
Outside, the WIND BATTERS a loose PANE of glass.
Unfortunately, no one can be told
what the Heteronormative Matrix is.
You have to see it for yourself…

Surely by now everyone has had the sublime experience of the original film, but if you have not, or if you would like to be seduced by it once again (and it still holds up sixteen years later in my humble opinion) you can buy it here or here.
